Over the course of the day you may see some natural “fraying”, particularly on one side of the cup. The grass species on our greens grows somewhat horizontally and when the hole is cut, the grass stems are severed. A small amount of these loose stems will begin to slough off immediately, while others will be dislodged throughout the day by normal play. Extra care when retrieving one’s ball can help reduce the amount of damage that occurs, but some is to be expected regardless.
Hint: this can help with reading your putts!
We ask that you take extra care of the cups by following these simple steps.
- When removing the flagstick, lift straight up as to avoid hitting the edge of the cup.
- Either collect your ball carefully by hand or by using a specially designed ball retriever (available from the pro shop). DO NOT scoop the ball out with the blade of your putter.
- Return the flag carefully ensuring you do not hit the side of the cup.
